PROFILE

Over the course of Judi's 22-year career in public relations — 18 of those at Chicago PR agencies — her ability to put herself in her clients', consumers' and media's shoes helped her create successful brand-building public relations programs for hundreds of clients including Kimberly-Clark Pull-Ups, Chiquita Fresh Cut Fruit, a migraine drug for Pharmacia, Land O'Lakes Butter and HON office furniture. But most important, it helped her build long-term relationships and friendships everywhere.

Judi's skills extend to building collaborative relationships between her clients and third-party advocates for her clients' brands. At various agencies, she connected Snapper lawn mowers with Green Bay Packers Quarterback Brett Favre; linked country singer Amy Grant with Land O'Lakes Butter; put Girlfriends' Guide author Vicki Iovine together with Kimberly-Clark Pull-Ups; helped Cajun Chef John Folse promote Delta Pride Catfish; and used Nelson B. Watts, MD to spread the word about osteoporosis for the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.

Before founding Judi Wax Public Relations Inc., Judi held executive positions at a number of agencies in Chicago including global independent Edelman as a senior vice president and deputy general manager in the firm's consumer marketing practice. In her years there, she taught Edelman's classes in client service. She was a vice president at Janet Diederichs & Associates and a senior consultant at Public Communications Inc. in Chicago. More recently she was vice president/director of public relations for Lindsay, Stone & Briggs, a brand development and advertising agency in Madison, Wisconsin.

Prior to her career in public relations, Judi wrote for the Chicago Tribune and the Daily Herald and is a former guest editor for Mademoiselle magazine.

Judi has industry awards from the Publicity Club of Chicago, the International Association of Business Communicators and the Sales and Marketing Executives of Chicago. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America, International Association of Business Communicators and International Association of Culinary Professionals. She also serves on the Board of Girls on the Run®.

From 1993 to 1995 Judi and her chef-husband owned a critically acclaimed fine dining restaurant in the Chicago area where she polished up her relationship-building skills by managing the front of the house.
